Global Dialogue is charitable company limited by guarantee established in April 2006.
Global Dialogue has a Board of Trustees - David Halpern, Professor Stephen Coleman, Sue Goss and Helen Jackson supported by Executive Directors Andrew Puddephatt and Greg Power. It works with minimum staffing by drawing on experienced associates who can bring the relevant skills to bear on any project.
Global Dialogue believes that democracy, human rights and good governance can best be fostered by an active partnership between civil society and accountable government. Global Dialogue undertakes research, policy development, and educational activities, including publishing and training, to promote these ideals. Using our detailed local knowledge of civil society organisations in different parts of the world we also provide a sub-granting procedure to support local NGOs through establishing Strategic Funds. By supporting local organisations, embedded in their society and with legitimacy in their own communities, Global Dialogue can make a contribution that is distinct from that of other international donors.
The Strategic Fund for Turkey aims to support and grow the capacity of locally led groups working in the field of human rights, women's rights, minority rights, environmental justice, and social and economic rights.
It believes that funding local groups is the best way of encouraging a culture of respect for human rights and of helping to cement the foundations of civil society.
